When “Me First” Spreads

Cancer cells grow by taking resources without responding to the signals that keep the rest of the body healthy.
Selfishness can spread through a team in a same way.
One person takes the credit.
Another withholds information to stay indispensable.
A leader protects their image instead of owning a mistake.
Soon, everyone begin to wonder:
Why should I look out for the team if no one is looking out for me?
That is how trust starts to break down.
What Are You Rewarding?
If you lead people, pay attention to what you reward.
Are you celebrating results, no matter how they were achieved?
Or are you recognizing the people who share knowledge, make room for others, and take responsibility?
Check Your Own Ambition
And if you’re growing into leadership, ask yourself:
Does my ambition help the people around me grow, too?
Successful people pay attention to their own small choices.
Share the credit.
Pass along what they know.
Own the mistake.
Make it easier for someone else to succeed.
Team culture grows through repeated behavior.
What you reinforce today shapes what people do tomorrow.
