She became the first Black woman to win Wimbledon.

Helen Keller lost her sight and hearing at 19 months old.

She went on to co-found the American Civil Liberties Union, write 14 books, and change the world's perception of disability, in the 19th century, as a woman.

Here's the question that wrecks every excuse:

If their backgrounds didn't stop them, what exactly is stopping you?

Your past is not a prison.

It is a prologue.

It is true that your background matters, it shaped your values, your grit, your empathy.

But it only determines your future to the degree you allow it to.

You don't have to erase where you came from.

You just have to refuse to let it be the last word.

The story isn't over.

In fact, the best chapters are often written after the hardest ones.
