I sat with a Business Director who couldn’t figure out why his team kept leaving.
His team was lazy.
His bosses were not helping matters.
The timing was wrong.
The culture was broken, and the industry was biased.
Everything… except him.
I asked one question:
When did you last own something that went wrong?
Silence.
That silence was the diagnosis.
As a Behavior Strength Coach, I call it Victimitis - Chronic Blame Syndrome.
It’s sneaky. It feels justified. And it is highly contagious.
Symptoms:
• “They never appreciate me.”
• “Nobody on my team tries.”
• “It’s not MY fault.”
Sound familiar? (Don’t worry - the first step is noticing.)
The cure isn’t toxic positivity. It’s Radical Ownership.
One question to ask every time something goes wrong:
What’s my role in this and what can I do with it?
This radically shifts you:
From Passenger to Driver.
From Audience to Author.
From Reaction to Response.

You are not your circumstances.
You are what you choose to do with them.
What’s one situation where you can choose ownership over blame today?
